After playing for Oldham and Greater Manchester Schoolboys, Nicky Butt signed for Manchester United as a trainee in July 1991 and turned professional in January 1993. He was a part of the successful FA Youth Cup side in 1992, scoring twice in the first leg of the Youth Cup Final against Crystal Palace. He was a finalist a year later, but this time on the losing side.
His first team debut came on 21 November 1992, as a substitute for Paul Ince in the 65th minute. By the end of the 1994-95 season he had earned himself a place in the starting line up for the F.A. Cup final, which United lost 1-0 to Everton.
Twelve months later Butt was to collect a winners' medal in the 1996 F.A. Cup final, completing a League and Cup double for himself and Manchester United.
Butt has won two Premier League Championship medals in 1996 and 1997, an F.A. Cup winners' medal in 1996 and runners' up medal in 1995, an F.A. Youth Cup final medal and a Pontin's Central League (Reserve team) Championship medal.
He has represented England at schoolboy, youth, Under-21 and full international level. He was also a member of the England Under-18 squad that lifted the European Championship in July 1993.
